Tragedy in the Skies: Air India Dreamliner Crashes in Ahmedabad

In a devastating incident that has left the nation in mourning, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner , operating as Flight AI-171 , crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport today, June 12, 2025. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick with 242 people on board , including 230 passengers and 12 crew members. Authorities have confirmed that there appear to be no survivors . What Happened? The flight took off around 1:38 PM IST and lost contact with air traffic control moments later, while still climbing out of Ahmedabad. It crashed into the hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area, erupting into a massive fireball visible for miles.
